The Mother of God 'Hodegetria', nimbate, wearing chiton and maphorion, standing to right, pointing with her right hand towards Infant Christ seated on her left arm, wearing a nimbus cruciger. Rev. Cruciform monogram ΠAVΛOV XAPTOVΛAPIOV. Cf. Zacos/Veglery 2951 for the reverse monogram. An exceptional early depiction of a Hodegetria type in the finest style of the period. Some deposits, otherwise, about extremely fine.
